NOTE FROM LAUREN: Over ten years ago, I was toying with the idea of creating a textile line - not having any real artistic talent- but I had these ideas in my head and I knew the only way to get them out was to try to put them on paper. To get myself comfortable with the idea, I told myself I was only doodling- which I'd been doing in text books all my life- and I got to work. I started this paisley pattern out of the same leaves I'd been doodling since grade school and when I got to the end I had extra. unwanted white space and felt like I'd totally messed up, so I thought it was a throw-away and wrote the words, "live your life" as a little self-pep talk and a sort of reminder to myself to not worry about what others thought and to give this thing a go even if it was terrible. When I went back to it a few days later, I realized I loved its complete and utter imperfection and the vulnerable place I'd been in when I made it and it became my first official LL Textiles pattern,
